Presentations — Teacher's Guide

With Presentations, you can create slides for teaching: provide Språki with a topic or text, edit the draft slide by slide, and download the result as a PowerPoint or PDF.

You enter a topic — or paste text you already have — and receive a set of slides with a title, bullet points, concept cards, and a summary. The draft appears on the screen as finished slides, and you can edit them one by one before downloading the file.

How it works

  1. Open Presentations. If you have created presentations before, click New presentation first. Type in the Content or topic field, or use Upload PDF or Word — this extracts the text from the file into the field, allowing you to edit it before proceeding.
  2. Select the settings below and click Create presentation. This usually takes a few seconds.
  3. The draft is displayed as slides in 16:9 format. On each slide, you have buttons to edit, add an image, move up or down, and delete. The editing fields follow the layout of the slide: bullet points are written one per line, and cards are written as "Heading | explanation | example".
  4. Changes are saved automatically, and you can also click Save manually. The next time you open the page, you will see the My presentations list.
  5. Under Download, choose PowerPoint (.pptx) or PDF. You can also choose Open in Google Slides or Preview (Office) to view the file in your browser first.

Your options

  • Target audience: A0, A1, A2, B1, B2, or Adults (general). Selecting a level adapts the language and amount of text accordingly.
  • Number of slides: 8, 10, 12, or 15.
  • Subject / topic and Style preference are optional. The style preference is free text, for example, "playful and colorful" or "formal and calm".
  • Language: Norwegian or English.
  • Include tasks / activities and Include discussions add at least one slide of each type.
  • Style: Modern, Simple, or Academic. Color theme: Gold, Ocean, Forest, Sunset, Lavender, Chalk, or Coral. Both can be changed afterward under Appearance — the slides will retain their content.

Who it is for

This is for anyone who needs something on the screen in the classroom and doesn't want to spend the evening formatting slides. It is especially useful when you already have a script, a handout, or a lesson plan and need a visual version of it.

The draft is just that: a draft. Språki doesn't know your specific group, and a generated set of slides needs a teacher's eye before meeting a class: check that the vocabulary matches the level, that the examples suit your participants, and that the facts are correct. Expect to spend a few minutes editing each presentation.

Suggestions for working with Presentations

  1. Type your spoken introduction into the topic field, and let the slides serve as visual support for what you say — not text you read out loud. Delete bullet points you plan to say in your own words anyway.
  2. Create the presentation at a level below your group's proficiency. Short lines on the screen give participants the cognitive bandwidth to listen to you instead of reading.
  3. Add a custom image to slides featuring new vocabulary. This places the image on the right and the words on the left, allowing you to point while speaking.
  4. Use a slide with a single main point as a pause in your teaching: ask the question, have participants discuss in pairs, and only move on afterward.
  5. Turn on Include discussions when teaching adults — a discussion slide halfway through gives you a natural opportunity to let the participants speak.
  6. Paste a text that participants have read in Read or Books, and use the presentation as the summary you review together the next day.

Good to know

  • Teacher notes are included in the file. The note you see below each slide is added as a note in the .pptx file and will appear in PowerPoint's presenter view. You can write and edit the note yourself in the Teacher note editing field.
  • Images are added per slide. PNG, JPG, and WEBP formats are supported. The image is placed on the right with the content on the left, and is included in both the PowerPoint file and the PDF.
  • A lesson plan can become a presentation. In Lesson Plans, the Create presentation button generates a slide deck from the lesson plan. Open presentation gives you your own editable copy, and the back button takes you straight back to the lesson plan.
  • The file is yours afterward. .pptx opens in PowerPoint, Keynote, and Google Slides, so you can make further adjustments in the tool you know best.
