What is Språki?
Språki is a Norwegian AI-powered learning tool, designed for anyone learning Norwegian.
How do I get started?
Log in, choose your level and native language, and start with what you want to practice.
Which level should I choose?
Choose the level you are at now — not the one you want to be at. You can change it at any time.
Can I get Språki in my own language?
Yes. The menus are available in over 50 languages, and the content can be translated using the flag button.
Can I use Språki on mobile?
Yes. Språki works in the browser on mobile and tablet. A dedicated app is coming.
Which languages can I learn with Språki?
Norwegian is the main language. English is under development.

Norwegian for the workplace: vocational vocabulary, HSE (health, safety, and environment), small talk with colleagues, and work practice.

I don't understand a word in a text — what do I do?
Tap on the word. You will immediately get the explanation, pronunciation, and translation.

Does it cost money to use Språki?
Yes. Språki is a paid service, but many people use it for free through their school.
Can I purchase Språki as a private individual?
Yes. You can create an account yourself and try it for free for 7 days before paying.
How does my school get access?
Schools and municipalities purchase licenses. Contact us, and we will prepare an offer.
How much can I use Språki?
As much as you want, as long as you use it in the normal way.
I have forgotten my password
Use "Forgot password" on the login page, or ask your teacher.
How do I change my name, email, level, or language?
Everything can be found on My Page.
How do I delete my account?
You delete the account yourself under My Page. All your content will be deleted along with it.
Privacy and security

Does Språki save what I write?
Some things are saved, some are not. What you deliberately save will remain in your account; chat conversations will not.
Who can see what I write?
No one at Språki reads your content. Your teacher sees what you submit.
Should I share personal information with Språki?
No. Never share personal identity numbers, health information, or other people's information.
Is what I write used to train AI?
No. All suppliers are contractually obligated not to train on the data.
Where is my data stored?
The servers and database are located in the EU (Germany). Some AI services process data in the US.
What rights do I have over my data?
You can view, edit, download, and delete everything we have about you.
Why doesn't Språki have a cookie banner?
Because we only use necessary cookies, and no tracking or advertising.

Is everything Språki says correct?
No. AI can make mistakes. Check important information elsewhere.

Which AI services does Språki use?
Google (Gemini) for most things, ElevenLabs for speech, Cloudflare for images.
Is Språki the same as ChatGPT?
No. Språki is built for language learning, and uses several AI services under the hood.
Can I use the images I create in Språki?
Yes, freely — also commercially. The images are marked as AI-generated.
Who owns the texts that Språki creates for me?
You. You can use them for whatever you want.
Can I use Språki when doing schoolwork?
To practice and understand: yes. To submit others' work as your own: no.
Errors and issues
When something does not work as it should.
Språki isn't working — what do I do?
Refresh the page first. If that doesn't help, let us know.
How do I report an error?
Use the feedback form. We read everything.
I found an error in the dictionary or in a text
Report it in the dictionary, and we will correct it.
The sound is not working
Check the volume, ensure the browser is not muted, and try reloading the page.
The microphone is not working
The browser needs permission to use the microphone. Check the permissions.
It says that my access has expired
The subscription or school license has expired. Renewing will restore access immediately.

What can I do as a teacher in Språki?
Groups, assignments, class overview, and a dedicated set of teacher tools.
I teach, but I'm not employed at a school — can I get the teacher tools?
Yes. If you have an individual subscription and you teach, we can enable teacher access on your account. Groups are part of the school license and are not included.
How do I create a group?
Under Groups, create the group and add the students from the school's users.
How do my students get accounts?
The school's administrator creates the users and assigns the licenses.
How do I assign a writing task to the students?
Create the assignment from the group, from Write, or from the Teacher Portal. The students submit their work, and you can view the submissions with Språki's analysis.
What do I need for the privacy assessment?
Everything is fully transparent: data processing agreement, sub-processors, AI transparency, and more.
Picture dictionary — teacher's guide
Picture Dictionary is the visual dictionary in Språki: large scenes where students click on objects in the image to hear the word, the explanation in their own language, and the pronunciation read aloud.
Reading — guidance for teachers
Stories are the reading practice in Språki: over 200 Norwegian texts from A0 to B2—letters, advertisements, dialogues, and stories from the fictional coastal town of Sjøhavn—each with audio narration, click-to-search dictionary lookups, and automatically graded exercises. Students can work independently, and reading time counts as learning time.
Listening — Teacher's Guide
The student listens to a short recorded conversation or story and answers questions about what was said — the text only appears afterwards. You have over 1,200 Norwegian stories from level A0 to B2 to choose from, and you can share individual stories with a group.
Books — teacher's guide
Books are multi-page stories in Norwegian featuring images, audio recordings, a glossary, and end-of-book activities. Students read in two-page spreads, can tap on words they don't know, and pick up right where they left off.
Read from image — teacher's guide
The student takes a photo of a document, uploads a PDF or Word file, or pastes text — and gets it read aloud with word highlighting, simplified, translated into their native language, and with word definitions on tap. This is the feature for all the paperwork the student encounters outside Språki.
Writing — teacher's guide
Skrive is the writing tool where students select an assignment or paste their own text, write with built-in aids along the way, and receive feedback on content, spelling, grammar, and vocabulary directly in the text. Here, you will learn what the tool actually does and how you can use it in your teaching.
Dictionary — teacher's guide
The dictionary provides students with explanations at their own level, including inflections, example sentences, and audio — and you can let the same explanation follow the class from the text they are reading to the word list they are practicing.
Word lists — teacher's guide
With Word Lists, you gather the words the class needs to learn into a single list, share it with the students, and see how well each word is remembered. You can build the list word by word, or paste in the entire vocabulary list and review the suggestions before adding them.
Practice — Teacher Guide
In Practice, students practice the words from their word lists across ten short exercises, and each answer determines when the word will appear again.
Conversation — teacher guide
Samtale gives your students a speaking partner they can talk to in real time—you choose the situation and level, and the student practices speaking without anyone else listening. You can also create your own conversation partners and share them with the class.
Ask Språki — Guide for Teachers
"Ask Språki" is the student's chat with the AI teacher: questions in Norwegian or their native language, and answers structured as a mini-lesson tailored to the student's level.
Workplace Norwegian — Teacher's Guide
With Arbeidsnorsk, you provide students with 33 topics from Norwegian working life—HSE, rights, salary, and workplace culture—each written at four levels from A1 to B2, with audio, a glossary, a writing task, and sources included in every topic.
Oral practice — teacher's guide
In the speaking practice, the student reads one sentence aloud at a time and has the recording assessed with scores for correct words, pronunciation, and fluency.

Students describe a motif in their own words and have the image generated by AI. You can use this as a language precision exercise: the image will only be accurate if the description is precise.

Translate is the interpreting window in Språki: two side-by-side fields, one in Norwegian and one in the student's native language, featuring speech-to-text input and text-to-speech output. Here, you will learn when it helps the student move forward, and when it takes over the work the student should have done themselves.

Språki-prat are AI-generated podcast episodes in simple Norwegian, where two hosts discuss a topic for six to nine minutes. Students can listen to the episode anywhere, read the transcript with vocabulary explanations, and complete around eight tasks that are graded and counted.
